Acclaimed bass player, Leon Bosch has devized a programme to showcase the double bass in all its shades of glory, from virtuoso solo instrument to thrilling ensemble player. This evening's concert is bookended by Bosch’s own acclaimed ensemble I Musicanti, who will open the concert with the London premiere of Bottesini's Grand Quintet in C, and end the evening with Dvořák's great Quintet in G. In between, accompanied by the award-winning pianist Rebecca Omordia, he will play a stunning commission entitled Shosholoza by Roxanna Panufnik, which incorporates South African traditional songs, Leon's own transcription of Beethoven's Horn Sonata Opus 17 and the unashamedly virtuosic fantasy on theme’s from Bellini’s ‘La Sonambula’ by Bottesini.
