Biography

KDR are a trance duo of Dean Hopkinson and K2F (Karl Fountain).

Being friends from an early age they grew up together with the passion for the trance genre after starting out at the other end of the decks (the dance floor) at a young age Dean & K2F grew up going to the weekly event in Sheffield 'Gatecrasher' where there love for the genre grew listening to the likes of Matt Hardwick, Scott Bond and Armin Van Buuren the time came for KDR to take to the stage. Working for a small supermarket chain KDR put together every penny they had to buy their first vinyl decks and spent every lunch break in the local music store on the hunt for trance vinyl which now have become classics in the genre.

KDR's first gig was a house party back in 2007 in front of 50 people where they quickly realised the huge difference between mixing in a bedroom and mixing to a crowd, the buzz felt drove them to practice hard and strive for more gigs.

3 years of house parties and small gigs saw KDR receive unbelievable feedback from the crowd as they hit the scene with a perfect style of Trance with sets ranging from 'Uplifting Melodic' to club driven 'Tech Trance' making them perfect for any line-up. KDR knew they had what it took and decided they would also start working on productions. After spending the last year learning to play the piano the time felt right to invest in some top of the range software, VST's and their first MIDI keyboard.

In 2011 KDR released the first of there online shows 'RESIDENCY' which offered listeners an hour mix of their favourite tracks for that month and they quickly built up a sizeable following of listeners. With the show taking off Dean & Karl looked to place productions high on the agenda for 2011 where they released a fantastic smash up 'Neptune Project vs Solarstone – 7 Aztec Cities (KDR Mashup)' which received amazing reviews. Later in 2011 Dean Hopkinson secured a regular local slot running a weekly trance event in Chesterfield and finished the year in perfect style getting on the line-up for the Pre Party, Off The Rails Closing Party 2011 which also saw the likes of Andy Moor, Ronski Speed, Jordan Suckley and the UK debut of Mr Pit.

KDR kicked off 2012 by releasing a huge production called 'Novacaine' and landed a monthly 2 hour slot on the esteemed internet radio station trancesonic.fm where they moved the 'Residency' show. They also run 'Send Off The Airwaves' and help run the Send Off events Globally.

The future looks bright for KDR as they have offers from huge record labels and a resident slot with the 'Send Off' team. With plans for Ibiza for the summer of 2012 and ending the year with a gig at Passion plus with a number of productions set for release later in the year, 2012 could prove to be huge in KDR's career.
