Biography

"gorgeously understated, precise but ambitious in scale, in the way Muse can be. They’re destined for stages and venues far larger than they’re currently playing"

- Nightshift Magazine

KANADIA are a 4-piece alternative rock band based in Oxford, UK. Consisting of James Bettis (guitar/vocals), Tim Lucas (drums), Melissa Marshall (synths/keys) and Jack Ashworth (Bass).

Taking influence from the likes of TV On The Radio, Radiohead, Muse and Foals, KANADIA combine expansive, overdriven reverb drenched guitars with driving basslines and pulsating synths and electronics. Showcasing this across several styles, from their anthemic rock tracks, to their atmospheric and dark ballads, they are strongly characterised by singer James Bettis' soaring and emotive vocals.

KANADIA released their debut album on March 2nd, 2019 in front of a sold out O2 Academy Oxford, followed by a UK tour.

The band have announced a highly anticipated new single release to follow their debut album, due to be released on April 2nd.

KANADIA have begun to steadily build a dedicated fan base and an exciting reputation for their "stadium sized" live shows.

Several of the band's single releases have been featured on Editorial Playlists such as All New Rock, New Noise and Alternative Generation, including singles 'Poison', 'Masterplan, and 'VX'. Subsequently KANADIA have received much popularity in South America.

KANADIA have performed at Truck Fest 2018 on the Market Stage, Common People Festival, BBC Introducing, SoFar Sounds, O2 Academy Oxford and legendary venues such as The Bullingdon, The Cellar, Jericho Tavern and Sunflower lounge, Hare and Hounds, and Night & Day Cafe to name a few.
