Biography

We are a well established chamber choir, part of the vibrant musical life in Merton, with a wide ranging repertoire from renaissance motets to jazz standards and music by living composers. Our regular performance venue is St. Matthew’s Church, Durham Road, SW20.

Our choir is, currently, around 25 voices strong, ranging from people relatively new to choral singing to some very experienced choral singers. However, we are always pleased to see new singers. Go to our ‘Music Clips’ webpage to hear excerpts of our performances.

Season’s highlights include an exhilarating performance of Mozart’s ‘Requiem’, with orchestra and some fine soloists. We have also embarked on a new venture: a combined programme of art and music, which was very well received by our audience. For 201819 we welcome our new Musical Director, Simon Lloyd, although Simon is not completely new to the choir, having conducted its December 2015 concert and played harmonium in the performance of Rossini’s ‘Petite Messe Solonnelle’ in March 2016.
