Hannah McFarland has an excellent reputation in the Birmingham area as a talented and versatile performing artist. Her most recent press critique described her portrayal of the soprano role in Handel’s Alexander’s Feast as ‘honey-toned’ and ‘captivating’ (Birmingham Post).

Hannah graduated form the University of Birmingham in 2008 with first class honours and was awarded the Roland Gregory prize by the university after achieving the highest mark in both performance and her academic studies. Before graduating from the University of Birmingham Hannah had, however, already started her professional career as a solo performing artist. Hannah made her professional debut in 2007 as first soprano in the world premiere of Fyfe Dangerfield’s In Wait, performed with and specially commissioned by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the Guillemots, for the Birmingham Town Hall Re-opening Festival. Highlights since this debut include the role of First Fairy in Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Nights Dream, performed at Symphony Hall with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Chorus and the soprano role in Orff’s Carmina Burana at Wolverhampton Grammar School.
