Biography

Birmingham native Dominic Lawson relocated to in 2010 to Manchester to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2010 as a saxophonist. Since graduating, he has worked predominantly as a singer, saxophonist and composer/arranger in the Brass-Fusion collective, Twisted Tubes, with whom he performs at private and corporate events across the to places such as Dubai, Beirut, Seoul and Bermuda, working with brands such as Hermes and Bentley.

More recently, Dominic has appeared on the Hacienda Classical tours as part of the AMC Gospel Choir, as soloist for Colours Classical, Disco Classical, Garage Classical, and as choir director for the Nicky Siano Hallelujah Disco, leading his own group The Feel Good Choir.

These various tours and shows have afforded him the opportunity to have performed at prestigious venues and festival stages such as the Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury Pyramid Stage, Manchester Pride main stage to name a few.

Since venturing into the world of Dance music,Dominic has collaborated with producers such as Marshall Jefferson, Midnight City and House Of Virus, the latter of which produced a collaboration on “Love Story” which received plays from Mista Jam on BBC Radio One. His dance collaborations over the past 3 years have accumulated 300,000 plays on Apple Music, 382,000 on Spotify and over 1million plays on YouTube.

Dominic’s composing, arranging and producing I had been doing with Twisted Tubes had not gone unnoticed - in the summer of 2019 he collaborated with Lad Bible, composing, arranging and producing original music for the British Army Music Corps, as part of a promotional campaign to encourage musicians to join.

My style is firmly rooted in RnB and Soul, but has elements of an eclectic mix of Pop, Rock, Jazz and Classical. My first project “Mind The Gap” was a semi autobiographical EP detailing my personal growth and love for music. It was my first venture into songwriting and showcased my composing and arranging skills, with a blend of genres performed by my 12 piece band, The Thunder. The project saw some local success, performing at larger scale events and public stages in the Manchester area.

I decided to step away from the full band, because of the difficulties in managing a group that size, and began focusing on my production skills. Winter 2019/20 sees the release of my latest wave of original music, and my first release of fully electronic music with songs Wrap and Limit To Your Love - more mature and sophisticated music that still demonstrates my background and experience in genre bending music.
