“Dee J Sterling essentially loves playing music to people.”
Dee J Sterling has been a DJ long before DJ’ing even became fashionable and something everyone now seems to aspire to. His incredible vinyl collection of hip-hop, electro, house, acid house, techno and jungle has been amassed over many years and amounts to thousands. Dee J Sterling’s repertoire of playing abroad and nightclubs where the scene evolved, is like a memory lane, such clubs include Ministry of Sound, Bagley’s Gass Club, Leicester Square, Time and Envy and Oscars to name but a few. He recently warmed up to a large crowd of 1500 people for High Contrast at the UEA. Dee J Sterling has also been a resident DJ for Get Loose and Hideout during a previous stint of living in Norwich.
Throughout his career, Dee J Sterling has been particularly prolific on the airwaves of Essex as well as London, where he was actively involved with the running of many pirate radio stations, one station of which is now fully legal and licensed. During his time on Centreforce 883 DAB Radio, Dee J Sterling had his own show, “Sterling’s Saturday Superstore” which allowed him the opportunity to interview the pinnacle of the scene, Louie Vega Masters at Work as well as many others including Paul Oakenfold, Andy C, DJ Rap and Marshall Jefferson and Inner City. The next chapter of his radio journey is in the wings, although this is sworn to secrecy.
Worthy of note is that Dee J Sterling also had a previous signing to the iconic Champion Records as well as other projects and collaborations. He is equally happy making and producing music in the studio.
Dee J Sterling takes an up-front approach to music, but always effortlessly throws in anthems from yesteryear, seamlessly mixing the old with the new.
