Deaf or Glory
Blood, beers, sweat and tears
New to the scene alternative rock bands are meant to be young and edgy. Deaf or Glory (not so much a name as a statement of intent) a 2 piece with a combined age of 100. And just because they're not 'young and deep' doesn't mean they don't have 'issues'. A simmering mass of unresolved rage about things as trivial as people not waving 'thank you' when you let them through in traffic. Add to that a love of brutal uncompromising riffy rock and a deep seated need to let off steam and there you have Deaf or Glory.
It's also a knee-jerk reaction to being in cover bands for too long. It's free therapy, counselling and a self-funding hobby all in one go.
What do they sound like? Well, influences include Motorhead, AC/DC, Queens of the Stone Age, Smashing Pumpkins, Dead Kennedys, No Means No, Royal Blood, Led Zeppelin and Killing Joke to name but a few.
How do they make such a racket as a 2 piece? The secret sauce is lots of amps, pedals and harmonies and an imaginative approach to solving problems!
Objective? To earn a shade more than it costs them in cheap hotels, diesel, fast food and alcohol. We're not talking mega-bucks here. These gentlemen have their feet on the ground.
Their debut 'Anger Management EP' is out on all digital formats in August 2016 and features three tracks about big decisions, arguments and dementia. Recorded at Brighton Electric studios (Foals, Architects, Royal Blood) and produced by Josh Harrison (The Cure, Royal Blood, British Sea Power, Tigercub). Mastering by Pete Maher (U2, Jack White, The Rolling Stones)
All of the profits from the track 'Fading' will go the The Alzheimer's Society to raise money to fund more research into dementia.
Deaf or Glory are touring the UK in 2017 supporting The AC/DC Experience
