Biography

Aged 19, up and coming York based singer-songwriter Daisy Allen is one to watch.

From growing up listening to classic jazz singers like ‘Ella Fitzgerald’ and ‘Anita O’Day’, to more recent inspiration in artists like ‘Rex Orange County’ and ‘Big Thief’, her music is a soothing blend of jazz chords and melodies, with indie and electronic influences driving the instrumentation.

Daisy self-released her first 8-track EP, ‘Drift’ at age 15, selling hundreds of copies worldwide. The harmony rich, pared back tracks were well received in the indie/acoustic scene, seeing her play 2 years in a row at Platform Festival and supporting the likes of Edwina Hayes and The Dunwells.

Her debut album, Paper Moon, is a capsule of Daisy’s life as she explores her independence. Away from her small-town home and feeling free to experiment with her jazz and modern indie influences, the music evolves from her previous work into something much richer, moodier and truly enchanting.

‘Paper Moon’ will be released in February 2019 to a sold out hometown crowd at The Basement in York.

FFO - Big Thief, Rex Orange County, Daughter, Massive Attack
