Breathbeat has two sides. One is breath: experimental breathing music and live breathwork events made alongside BreathConductor, the biometric app Breathbeat built that reads your heart rate and paces your breathing with sound. The other is Anxious Rhythms — dark, minimal drum and bass, neuro, techstep and original dubs at 172, the restless part Breathbeat originally set out to quiet. Both come from the same place: a scientist with a background in EEG and sonification who has spent years turning the body into sound, starting with breath- and pulse-controlled performances. Baseline, written around their own HRV resting state, is where the two sides meet. Live, Breathbeat plays a Launchpad rigged to be worn on the body, so the set moves when they do. Most of the dnb is unreleased; the dubs live in the Anxious Rhythms Dub Club.
