A blistering Soul and Funk band all about having fun. Formed by two old friends of 40 years, Clive Stewart (Saxophone) and Chris Coomer (Bass) who found their shared love of soul and funk back in the 70's at the famous northern soul all-nighter Wigan Casino. Billy Nine Mates are a group of musicians that have a love of old school soul and funk. Supplying the Malcolm Macdonald style chord voicings and Steve Wonder funky clav grooves is Ian Warrington on keyboards. Gordon on Trombone adds his sassy licks to complement the overall sound, accompanied by both subtle guitar licks and screaming solos, whilst the drummer binds the groove together.
