York Dungeon Standard Admission takes you through 2000 years of York’s darkest history with live actors, immersive sets and special effects. The experience brings to life the city’s murky past as you move from the Viking era and their Saxon enemies to some of York’s most notorious figures, including Guy Fawkes and Isabella Billington.
Expect scenes based around the black plague and the fearsome torture chamber, with the story told through sights, sounds and smells as you go. It is presented as a journey through York’s more ‘orrible history, with history and performance combined throughout.
Key facts: Live actors, dark history, immersive sets and special effects; suitable for ages 5 and over; not recommended for under 8s.
Younger visitors must be aged 5 and over. The York Dungeon is not recommended for children under 8.
