SBD presents
PETE & MILA MOLINARI
Friday September 25th
This is Pete Molinari: musician, writer, playwright, bohemian, the personification an uncompromising and non- conforming artist. A renaissance man and a constant paradox.
There’s absolutely no airs about the guy, yet the former art student’s unique style and fashion sense makes him stand out in any manning crowd. He’s what those in his hometown of Rochester in Kent might once called a dandy. Pete Molinari is, primarily, a British-born singer-songwriter. He’s got six critically-acclaimed albums’ worth of timeless folk, blues, rock and alt-country songs to his credit, plus a bunch more EPs. He’s often described as a songwriter’s songwriter. Bruce Springsteen once publicly proffered: “Pete Molinari – if you don’t know anything about him, he’s great!” The sound is real. Live. Real people, playing real instruments. Front and center are Pete’s own majestic guitar chops and unique, soulful voice.
Although a modern and contemporary man, Pete draws his inspiration from nothing much that’s contemporary. Picture the man with a pen, paper, postcard, typewriter and record player, no computer in sight. Pete Molinari has always been a man out of place and time, forging his own path. He’d be exactly the same artist in any era, but fortunately he’s around in the 2020s. His music is ageless and timeless.
Sixth album 'Wondrous Afternoon' demonstrates his reputation of effortlessly, merging, soul, folk, blues, and country together, to create a timeless collection of songs.
I’ve been listening to Pete Molinari’s records and if you haven’t heard him you really should because he’s a great one” - Bruce’s Springsteen
“As well as writing his own great songs Pete’s also courageous enough to cover some classics that would make most of us tremble at the thought of attempting” - Jarvis Cocker
“He’s the real thing. It’s not easy to do what he does. It may seem it but to capture a whole room like that with your voice and guitar it takes a great deal of something that not a lot of people have” - Dan Auerbach
