On 29th March, PILGRIM is transforming into the hottest speakeasy in Newcastle as we welcome the magnificent House of the Black Gardenia to launch their new album . 'Mazurka in Jazz' promises another heady brew of early jazz and blues rarities and authentic original compositions flavoured with the macabre and the mischievous and designed to get dancefloors swinging.
Expect a sonic feast: stride piano, ragtime banjo, roaring New Orleans-style horns, and rhythms more potent than a bathtub full of gin. While their sound is deeply rooted in history, their lyrical themes often tackle contemporary issues, giving their performance a powerful, unique edge. They are a true embodiment of the diverse, genre-pushing music we love to support.
The North East is lucky to have a band this steeped in jazz roots and big band swagger. Whether you're a seasoned swing dancer or simply love witnessing immense musical talent, this is a night of old-fashioned good times you cannot miss. Secure your place for a raucous revival!
