About Oh, Mary!

Oh, Mary! at Trafalgar Theatre is an 80-minute one-act dark comedy by Cole Escola, directed by Sam Pinkleton. It follows a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, with unrequited yearning, alcoholism and suppressed desires at the centre of the story.

The production was described by The New York Times as “one of the best comedies in years” and received Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play and Best Direction of a Play. It presents Mary Todd Lincoln’s life and dreams through a sharply comic, deliberately offbeat lens.

Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes, with no intermission.

The role of Mary Todd Lincoln is played by Cole Escola from 20th July to 15th August, Jinkx Monsoon from 17th August to 26th September, and Lolly Adefope from 28th September to 5th December. The cast also includes Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher and Giles Terera as Mary’s Husband.
