Trainspotting - the musical at Haymarket, London is a stage adaptation written by Irvine Welsh, with music and lyrics by Stephen McGuinness and Irvine Welsh, and directed and developed by Caroline Jay Ranger. Set around the characters from the original story, it brings Renton, Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud, Tommy and Kelly back to the stage with an ensemble cast and a live band.

The production features some of the tracks from the film, alongside original songs, combining familiar material with new music. It is presented as a musical about outsiders and rebellion, framed for a West End stage audience.

Thirty years on from the film, this is a new musical version rather than a straight revival, with the material reworked for live performance.

Running time: 2 hours including a 20-minute interval.
