About The Standard of Living

The Standard of Living is at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, London. This brand-new world-premiere play by Olivier Award-winning playwright James Graham opens in the West End for a strictly limited 12-week season, directed by Nicholas Hytner.

Starring Olivier Award winner Rory Kinnear and Royal Ballet principal Natalia Osipova in her West End debut, the play tells the story of economist and Bloomsbury Group member John Maynard Keynes. It follows Keynes between Whitehall and a radical artistic circle of writers, lovers and friends, as markets crash and Britain edges towards chaos.

Alive with music, dance, desire and debate, the play asks what makes a good life, drawing on Keynes’s relationships with Lydia Lopokova, Duncan Grant and Virginia Woolf.

Before you book

Suggested for ages 12 and over. Natalia Osipova will not be appearing at the performances on Friday 16 October, Wednesday 21 October and Wednesday 4 November, or at the matinee and evening performances on Thursday 22 October and Thursday 5 November. Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged after purchase.

Access bookings are managed via the Theatre Royal Haymarket Digital Access Pass. Where a customer has a plus-one on a Nimbus/Access card and the requirement is not mobility-related, any non-Premium price can be selected and the plus-one ticket is free, processed as two tickets at half price. For mobility, deaf or visually impaired customers, stalls seats are available at £25, excluding Premiums, subject to internal allocation. The venue holds four centre Stalls D seats for visual or hearing issues, four aisle pairs for mobility issues, and two wheelchair spaces.
