About The Ghost of White Hart Lane

The Ghost of White Hart Lane at 6 Walker's Court, London, is a play about Spurs and Scotland star John White. It follows his journey from growing up just outside Edinburgh to football fame, and tells the story of his death in July 1964 aged 27 after he was struck by lightning. The play also follows his son Rob White, who was five months old when his father died, and explores nostalgia, grief, life growing up without a father and male mental health.

Commissioned in 2024 to mark 60 years since John White’s death, the production premiered at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in July 2024, the first live play ever performed there. It then had a one-month run with sell-out shows at Underbelly Edinburgh Fringe in 2024 and Jackson's Lane, Highgate in 2025, and is based on the Sunday Times Bestseller The Ghost of White Hart Lane by Rob White and Julie Welch.

The show has received five stars from Theatre Weekly and The Edinburgh Reporter, and four stars from The Times, British Theatre Guide, UK Theatre Web, ThreeWeeks, Corr Blimey, The Real Chris Sparkle, Shadows on the Wall and Ham&High, plus Theatre Weekly’s Best Monologue Award.
