Love's Labours Lost 26 brings Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost to the stage in a flamenco-inspired new production. Set in Navarre, the story follows four women on a diplomatic mission whose arrival tests the King and his lords as vows are undone by love, desire and wit.
Directed at the Globe Theatre by Associate Artist Indiana Lown-Collins in her Globe Theatre directing debut, the production draws on her rural Spanish roots and the warmth, rhythm and artistry of flamenco. Rarely staged, Love’s Labour’s Lost is presented as a human comedy shaped by joy, revelry, longing, grief and melancholy.
The result is a fresh way into Shakespeare’s comedy, with the play’s poetry and romantic tension reworked through a clear flamenco influence.
