A World Elsewhere at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is an imaginative adventure about Cass, a boy whose life is filled with stories, heroes, villains, monsters and imaginary friends. Inspired by his Grandma’s love of Shakespeare, he has always travelled through boundless worlds of make-believe, until something begins to change and a strange darkness creeps into his elsewhere-world.
The production is described as a celebration of storytelling, with music, laughter, friendship and imagination at its centre. The Olivier-nominated team behind Rough Magic and Midsummer Mechanicals return with this production, which is billed as funny, moving and inventively staged.
The story follows Cass as his adventures become less adventurous and the world he has created starts to shift. It offers a family-friendly theatrical premise rooted in fantasy, with a clear focus on the power of stories and the worlds they open up.
