About Stranger Things: The First Shadow

Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre is a stage production set in Hawkins, 1959, before the events of Stranger Things. It follows young Jim Hopper, Bob Newby, Joyce Maldonado and Henry Creel as a new student arrives and the town’s ordinary worries begin to change.

Brought to the stage by a multi-award-winning creative team, the production uses theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to return audiences to the beginning of the Stranger Things story.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours, including an interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: Recommended 12+. Under 5s are not permitted. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. The production contains gunfire audio, loud noises, explosions, haze, smoke, flashing lights and strobe, strong language, and depictions of mental health conditions and disorders.

Arrival and entry: The venue opens 90 minutes before the start time. Please arrive 30 minutes before the start time. Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable point, which may be the interval.

Tickets and policies: No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase. Accessible performances listed are BSL interpreted on Sunday 20 September 2026 at 15:00, audio described on Sunday 27 September 2026 at 15:00, and captioned on Sunday 4 October 2026 and Sunday 6 December 2026 at 15:00.
