About

About Into The Woods

Into The Woods is Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical at 85-88 St Martin's Lane, London, transferring to the West End this September after a critically acclaimed run at The Bridge Theatre. Directed by Jordan Fein, with set and costume design by Tom Scutt, it brings together fairytale figures including The Baker and his wife, a Witch with a curse, a boy and his cow, a girl in a red cloak, a maiden with long flowing hair and a servant covered in cinders.

As the characters journey deep into the woods, wishes are made, slippers are lost and beanstalks take flight. The story explores what happens beyond ‘Happily ever after’, as new friendships are forged and the darker side of the fairytale world comes into view. The production has been described by The Times as “stunning” and by The Standard as “a triumphant musical mash-up of fairytales”.
