The Children at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is Lucy Kirkwood’s darkly funny drama, directed by Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan in its 10th anniversary production. The play follows Hazel and Robin, who are living on the edge of a radiation exclusion zone and trying to keep going as they cling to normality.
When their old friend Rose arrives, old memories, buried secrets and a proposition bring pressure to bear on their relationship and force them to confront their debt to the next generation. The result is a tightly focused three-hander about loyalty, responsibility and what happens after catastrophe.
