

Fences at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is August Wilson’s landmark play, set in 1950s Pittsburgh. It follows Troy Maxson as his past keeps closing in and tensions build at home with his wife, Rose, and their son Cory.
The production is directed by award-winning Daniel Bailey, whose work includes Red Pitch and the West End. From one of America’s most influential 20th century writers, the play centres on ambition, family pressure and changing expectations.
As Troy and Rose try to hold the family together, Cory’s hopes for a wider future push the household towards a reckoning.
