About The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is a musical set beneath the Paris Opera House, where the Phantom lives in shadow and becomes consumed by his love for Christine Daaé. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score, together with the scenery and special effects, brings this tragic love story to the stage.

The production first opened at His Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday 9 October 1986, with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles. Since then, it has won 70 major theatre awards and has been seen by over 140 million people worldwide.

Key facts: Runs for 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one interval. Performances are Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, with Saturday performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Before you book

Children under 4 are not admitted. Anyone aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult and may not sit on their own in the auditorium. Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase.

You will receive a confirmation email with your e-ticket; please print it and bring it on the day. Arrival at least 30 minutes before the performance is recommended, and you may also need to show valid ID. Please note that stalls row N-S have the top of the staging obscured by the Royal Circle overhang, and single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.
