Allegra is a new comedy with music in the West End, London. Written by Peter Quilter, whose work includes End of the Rainbow and Glorious!, and directed and choreographed by Stephen Mear, the show stars Dame Maureen Lipman in the title role.
Allegra is full of life and sings wherever she goes, from home to the street, shops and cafés. At times the orchestra is only in her imagination, and at times it spills into the real world, while her brother Ronen and her carer Anna try to keep life steady around her.
Dame Maureen Lipman is appearing in her first UK tour for 20 years. The production includes Singin’ in the Rain, Ain’t No Sunshine, Dream A Little Dream Of Me and Happy Days Are Here Again, and tells a story about family, love and holding on to joy.
