Allegra is a comedy with music written by Olivier and Tony Award nominated playwright Peter Quilter and directed and choreographed by three-time Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear. Dame Maureen Lipman stars in the title role.
Allegra sings at home, in the street and even in local shops and cafés. Sometimes the orchestra exists only in her imagination; sometimes it spills into the real world, affecting the people around her. Her brother Ronen and her carer Anna do their best to keep life steady while protecting someone they love.
The production includes Singin’ in the Rain, Ain’t No Sunshine, Dream A Little Dream Of Me and Happy Days Are Here Again, and centres on family, love and holding on to joy for as long as possible.
Key facts: Dame Maureen Lipman is appearing in her first UK tour for 20 years.
