Allegra is a brand new comedy with music from Olivier and Tony Award nominated playwright Peter Quilter, the writer of End of the Rainbow and Glorious!, with Dame Maureen Lipman starring in the title role. The play follows Allegra, whose love of singing carries her from home to the street, and even into shops and cafés, while the orchestra sometimes seems to exist only in her imagination.
Her devoted brother Ronen and her carer Anna do their best to keep life steady, as the story asks how you protect someone you love without dimming what makes them who they are. The production is directed and choreographed by three-time Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear.
Key facts: Dame Maureen Lipman is in her eagerly anticipated first UK tour for 20 years. The show includes Singin’ in the Rain, Ain’t No Sunshine, Dream A Little Dream Of Me and Happy Days Are Here Again.
