Abigail's Party at The Harold Pinter Theatre is Mike Leigh's black comedy set in suburban England in 1977. Tamzin Outhwaite stars as Beverly, with the story centring on an evening of drinks and uneasy conversation in her suburban semi.
As the alcohol flows and Demis Roussos plays on the record player, Beverly and her husband Laurence welcome new neighbours Angela and Tony for drinks, while Sue from next door is also invited. What begins as small talk soon turns to flirtation and marital tension, with the evening steadily unravelling.
Mike Leigh's portrait of social class, materialism and sexual tension is set against the pressures and manners of 1970s English suburbia.
Dates: Wednesday 12th August to Saturday 19th September 2026.
