Abigail's Party at the Harold Pinter Theatre is Mike Leigh's black comedy of suburban life in 1970s England, starring Tamzin Outhwaite as Beverly.
Set in Essex in 1977, the play follows Beverly as she hosts drinks for her neighbours Angela and Tony, with Sue from next door also invited round. As the alcohol flows and the records play, the evening's small talk gives way to flirtation, awkwardness and marital tension.
Mike Leigh's play explores social class, materialism and sexual tension through one gathering that steadily unravels.
