About Abigail's Party
Abigail's Party is at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London. Tamzin Outhwaite stars as Beverly in Mike Leigh’s black comedy set in suburban Essex in 1977.
Beverly is hosting drinks for new neighbours Angela and Tony, with Sue from next door also invited. As the alcohol flows and Demis Roussos plays on the record player, the evening turns into an uncomfortable gathering shaped by flirting, social tension and marital dispute.
Mike Leigh’s play is a portrait of social class, materialism and sexual tension in 1970s England.
