About Abigail's Party
Abigail's Party is at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London. Tamzin Outhwaite stars in Mike Leigh’s black comedy set in suburban England in 1977, where a drinks party becomes increasingly awkward as social niceties, flirtation and marital tensions start to surface.
The evening begins with Beverly hosting at home, with the alcohol flowing, music on the record player and neighbours round for drinks. What follows is a closely observed portrait of class, materialism and sexual tension, with the pressure building as the gathering unfolds.
Written by Mike Leigh, the play remains a modern classic of British theatre, with its focus on suburban life, social discomfort and the strain beneath polished conversation.
Runs: Wednesday 12th August to Saturday 19th September 2026.
