About Abigail's Party
Abigail's Party is at The Harold Pinter Theatre, Panton Street, London, SW1Y 4DN. Mike Leigh’s black comedy is set in Essex in 1977 and follows a suburban drinks party that starts with easy hospitality and quickly turns awkward.
Beverly is hosting, the alcohol is flowing, Demis Roussos is on the record player and the cheese and pineapple cocktail sticks are ready. When neighbours Angela and Tony join Beverly, her husband Laurence and Sue from next door, the evening shifts from small talk to flirtation, marital disputes and social tension.
