About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London's West End is Studio Ghibli's stage adaptation of the 1988 animated film. It is presented in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV.

Brought to the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company, with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi and adaptation by Tom Morton-Smith, the production follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one summer and centres on childhood imagination and fantasy.

The show has won six Olivier Awards and is described in the source information as a record-breaking, award-winning production.

Key facts: Running time 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval. Age recommendation 6+. Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.

Before you book

The production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit, and children need to occupy their own seats at all times.

The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space. It also contains themes of an ill parent in hospital, plus live music and sound effects that can be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.

Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. It is the customer's responsibility to check the suitability of a performance for any children in their party.
