About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbour Totoro, made in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei as they explore childhood and imagination.

Brought to the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company and Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi, and adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, this production is a record-breaking staging of the 1988 animated feature film. It has won six Olivier Awards and has been widely recognised as an award-winning theatre production.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: Recommended for ages 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years old, including babes in arms, will not be admitted. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit. Children need to occupy their own seat at all times, and all persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.

Booking and content information: Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, live music and sound effects that may be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children, and themes of an ill parent in hospital. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
