About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one extraordinary summer, with a story centred on childhood imagination and fantasy.

The production is created by the Royal Shakespeare Company in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi and adaptation by Tom Morton-Smith. It has won six Olivier Awards and is described as a record-breaking West End production.

Before you book

This production is recommended for ages 6+. It is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms, and children under 4 years old will not be admitted into the auditorium. All children must occupy their own seat throughout the performance. Children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them.

Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The show includes puppets, some of them large-scale and used in audience space, themes of an ill parent in hospital, and live music and sound effects that may be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
