About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre brings Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated feature film to the London stage in a production created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV. Adapted by Tom Morton-Smith and presented by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi, it follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one summer shaped by childhood, family and imagination.

Winner of six Olivier Awards, this West End production is centred on a fantasy world that sits alongside everyday life, as the story moves between the ordinary and the magical. It is a theatrical staging of a much-loved film, with the focus on the children’s experience and the emotional power of imagination.

Key facts: Running time 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: Recommended for ages 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms, and children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted. Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.

Content information: The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space.
