About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London. This West End production brings Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film to the stage in a collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, adapted by Tom Morton-Smith and produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company with executive producer Joe Hisaishi.

The show is a record-breaking, award-winning staging that has won six Olivier Awards. It follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one extraordinary summer, with the story exploring childhood imagination and a magical fantasy world.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: Recommended for ages 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years, including babes in arms, and children under 4 years are not admitted into the auditorium. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit. Children need to occupy their own seats at all times.

All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. Please note that single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, themes of an ill parent in hospital, and live music and sound effects that can be loud at times and may be scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
