About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one extraordinary summer, as childhood imagination opens up a magical fantasy world around them.

The production is created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, and is brought to the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi. It has won six Olivier Awards and has been described by critics as a record-breaking and award-winning production.

The show is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, and combines live music, puppetry and theatrical staging to tell a story centred on family, imagination and change.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age recommendation: 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years old, including babes in arms, will not be admitted to the auditorium. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit.

All attendees, مهما their age, must have a valid ticket. Children need to occupy their own seat at all times, and you should make sure any child in your party can sit unaided in a seat. Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.

The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space. It also contains themes of an ill parent in hospital, plus live music and sound effects that may be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. Younger guests and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
