Oliver! at the Gielgud Theatre is Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Lionel Bart’s musical, directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne. It brings Dickens’ story of the boy who asked for more to the stage in London, following a sold-out season at Chichester Festival Theatre.

The production features the score’s familiar songs, including Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, You’ve Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two, I’d Do Anything, Oom Pah Pah and As Long As He Needs Me. It is described as an Olivier, Tony and Oscar-winning masterpiece.

Creative credits include co-direction by Jean-Pierre van der Spuy, design by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable and Ben Jacobs, sound by Adam Fisher, video by George Reeve, original orchestrations by William David Brohn adapted by Stephen Metcalfe, and music supervision by Graham Hurman.

Current cast

The cast includes Simon Lipkin as Fagin, Shanay Holmes as Nancy, Aaron Sidwell as Bill Sikes, Billy Jenkins as the Artful Dodger and Philip Franks as Mr Brownlow. Matt Lucas will play Fagin from 22 September to 1 November 2026.
