Oliver! is playing at the Gielgud Theatre in London. Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Lionel Bart’s musical has been fully reconceived with director and choreographer Matthew Bourne, and opened in London following a sold-out season at Chichester Festival Theatre.

The show brings Dickens’ story of the boy who asked for more to the stage with Lionel Bart’s score, including Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, You’ve Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two, I’d Do Anything, Oom Pah Pah and As Long As He Needs Me. It is an Olivier, Tony and Oscar-winning musical, and The Telegraph gave this production five stars and called it “an undeniable triumph”.

Mail on Sunday also gave it five stars, describing it as “a whopping great hit… tunes, glorious tunes!”.

Key facts: Recommended for ages 7+. Matt Lucas will play Fagin from 22 September - 1 November 2026.
