RENT at the Duke of York’s Theatre, London, brings Jonathan Larson’s musical back to the West End in a new production directed by Luke Sheppard. Thirty years after it first redefined musical theatre, the show returns with a story inspired by Puccini’s La Bohème and set around a generation trying to make every moment count.
The musical follows the joy, uncertainty and resilience at the heart of the story, with a score that has helped RENT remain widely recognised. Its focus on community, connection and living for today gives the production its emotional force, while keeping the narrative rooted in the realities of its characters.
