Arcadia is playing at the Duke of York's Theatre, St Martin's Lane, London. Sir Tom Stoppard’s play transfers to the West End following The Old Vic’s critically acclaimed run, with this production directed by Carrie Cracknell.
Set in a country house two centuries apart, the play brings together science, romance and the search for understanding. In 1809, teenage prodigy Thomasina Coverly explores mathematics, nature and the forces that shape the universe and the human heart. In the present day, author Hannah Jarvis investigates a chapter in Lord Byron’s life, as questions of pattern, disorder and knowledge move between past and present.
The Duke of York's Theatre has been newly renovated into the round especially for this production, which opens from 20 June for a strictly limited 12-week run.
