About

National Symphony Orchestra
Rimma Sushanskaya, Conductor

Smetana - Vltava
Bruch - Violin Concerto No. 1 (violin: Coco Tomita)
Rachmaninoff - Symphony No. 2

Conducted by Rimma Sushanskaya, the National Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of soaring romanticism, featuring three of the most beloved works in the orchestral repertoire.

The concert opens with Bedřich Smetana's vivid tone poem Vltava (The Moldau), tracing the river's journey from its source to its dramatic climax in Prague. Next, the lyrical Violin Concerto No. 1 by Max Bruch is performed by acclaimed young violinist Coco Tomita, celebrated for her expressive and dynamic playing. The evening concludes with Sergei Rachmaninoff's glorious Symphony No. 2, a sweeping and immersive work full of rich melodies, dramatic contrasts, and profound emotional depth.

About the Soloist
Violinist Coco Tomita first came to prominence after winning the BBC Young Musician 2020 Strings Category. She has released two highly acclaimed albums (Origins and Echoes), received praise from Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine and The Guardian, and has performed at venues across the UK and internationally. Coco appears regularly with pianist Simon Callaghan and has played as a soloist with leading orchestras including the Nagoya Philharmonic, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and London Mozart Players.
