The Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre in London is Simon Stone’s contemporary staging of the Greek myth. Stone, the Australian theatre and film director known for reimagining classic works including Yerma and Phaedra, has also staged The Lady from the Sea at the Bridge Theatre, starring Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln.
In this production, a contemporary family wakes up inside a Greek myth and cannot seem to find a way out of its hellish destiny. The story brings Stone’s approach to classic material into a modern family context.
