About

About The Oresteia

The Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre is directed by Simon Stone, the Australian theatre and film director known for radical reworkings of classic material, including Yerma and Phaedra. After staging The Lady from the Sea starring Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln last year, Stone returns to the same London venue.

Here, a contemporary family wakes up in a Greek myth and cannot seem to find a way out of its hellish destiny. The production takes a classical story and places it in a modern family setting, making the premise clear and immediate for audiences interested in contemporary interpretations of myth.
