About The Oresteia

The Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre is a production by Simon Stone, the Australian theatre and film director known for radical reworkings of classic works including Yerma and Phaedra. After staging The Lady from the Sea last year, he returns to the Bridge Theatre in London.

The story follows a contemporary family that wakes up inside a Greek myth and cannot seem to find a way out of its hellish destiny. It is a modern retelling shaped around family, fate and violence.

The production contains themes of death and suicide, incest, scenes of a sexual nature, strong explicit language, and depictions of violence, self-harm, blood, vomit and other bodily fluids, with use of needles. This list may be updated as the production develops.
