Pride at the Bridge Theatre is a new musical that follows record-breaking sold-out runs at Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre and London’s National Theatre. Set in 1984, it tells the story of 24-year-old activist Mark Ashton and a group of lesbian and gay campaigners who form an unlikely alliance with striking miners in South Wales.
Written by the writer and director of the original hit film, the production is built around an original soundtrack of songs inspired by pop, rock, disco and the rich Welsh choral tradition. The show looks at solidarity and hope, alongside the pressures of Thatcher’s war on the coal industry and the rise of the AIDS crisis.
Running time: 2 hrs 40 mins including a 20 min interval. Age guidance: 12 years and older.
This production contains flashing and strobing lights and haze. It is suitable for ages 12 and over.
