Ivanov is at Bridge Theatre, 3 Potters Fields Park, London SE1 2SG. Nikolai has forgotten how to be happy, and Simon Stone brings Chekhov’s comic drama into the contemporary world as he tries to make sense of burnout, debt, his marriage and his wife’s recent unexplained illnesses.
The story follows a man who feels his life is unravelling just as he should be settled and successful. With a party at the Lebedevs on the horizon, the play asks whether Nikolai can save his marriage, his career and his will to live, or whether everything is already heading for disaster.
It is staged with the same creative team that brought The Lady from the Sea to life.
