Ivanov is Simon Stone's contemporary staging of Chekhov's comic drama. It follows Nikolai, a man who seems to have a successful career and a settled marriage, but who has forgotten how to be happy and is unsure what is driving his growing unease.
His wife has been laid low by unexplained illnesses and debts are mounting, yet they have dealt with bigger hurdles before. The story focuses on the pressure building around Nikolai as he tries to understand why life feels as if it is falling apart.
When a party at the Lebedevs draws near, Nikolai faces the question of whether he can save his marriage, his will to live and his career. The production reunites the same creative team that brought The Lady from the Sea to life.
